Owner: VDOT
Scope of project:
The paving schedule projects in NOVA handled by Fairfax Maintenance, Prince William Maintenance, Loudoun Maintenance and Interstate Maintenance. This year NOVA paving schedule projects adds up to over 200 Million Dollars. These projects were selected through the thorough prior assessment after taking many factors into consideration to provide the safe surface to the travelling public on the aged roads depends on the complexity of the roads whether it is Primary, secondary or Interstate roads throughout NOVA District.
The projects include milling, paving, patching, slurry seal, pavement markings, saw cut, and installation of the loops. This work had to be performed without impeding existing traffic and therefore involved extensive maintenance of traffic (MOT) coordination and implementation through one lane of traffic, using flaggers during non-peak hours and night work on many urbanized projects especially in Fairfax County projects.
CES supported VDOT on construction engineering and inspection services in the field. Our Sr. and regular inspectors was responsible for ensuring that all work was carried out per VDOT standards and specifications, all testing was performed at the correct frequency, measured and documented daily work pay items and ensured that all work zones were set up correctly, responsible to coordinate with TOC (Traffic Operations Center) to coordinate the lane closures on daily basis, responsible to address the concerns of travelling public, home owners and all other stake holders to ensure safety and also worked closely with the contractor to ensure that all field design conflicts were resolved at the lowest level possible. CES provided the necessary staffing including Office Engineers, Senior Inspectors and Regular Inspectors on site to cover all operations and provide all the quality assurance checks as well as develop the daily reports. Furthermore, our inspector developed, maintained, and managed all of the required project documentation, including the Materials Notebook.
